For anyone who has been following my socials or this blog, you might have noticed that I have been embracing my #HealingEra. Working on mindfulness, flow, and intentional self-care and development all to the soundtrack of Kacey Musgraves’s Deeper Well and other hits.
And I have to say, 10/10, highly recommend. But, it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes, life is still hard, things suck and I am still anxious, impatient, and annoyed. In the spirit of transparency and keeping it real, giving a glimpse behind the Instagram filters, here is a list of things that have gotten me down recently. And, in the spirit of working through these gripes and challenges and embracing my #HealingEra, a list of things I am trying to refocus my attention on.
Reasons this Millennial is crying, yelling, and whining:
- Irresponsible Neighbors: One of the more troubling neighbors in my disgusting apartment building somehow spilled some kind of gas in their unit. The entire building reeked of gas, and the mess interrupted a peaceful Saturday as we had to call the gas company, emergency, and maintenance, not good for my anxiety. Even though we are not supposed to have any kind of such gas in our units, the property management seemed pretty unbothered by the whole thing.
- Faulty Gas Pumps: When trying to fill up my car with gas at the gas station, the gas pump was faulty causing it to be an unnecessary struggle. Noticing a theme in my weekend, I am.
- High Costs & Low Quality: Everything is expensive and the quality of products and services sucks. See the above gas station rant and also the crappy, overpriced produce in markets
- Misplaced Priorities: The local overpriced grocery store managed to add a whole Starbucks to the store, but cannot EVER manage one staff member to move baskets from the checkout to the store entrance.
- Cold Mornings: The past few mornings were too cold to enjoy coffee on the balcony
- The List Goes On A million other inconveniences and gripes that are not worth repeating here.
Things I am choosing to focus on to reframe my thoughts and boost my perspective
- Improving weather: As the season shifts improved weather means more outside time, sunshine, etc to look forward to
- Gardening Plans: I’m excited about planting new seeds on our balcony—a perfect outdoor project.
- Gratitude: Focusing on things like that bring me peace, joy, and excitement like a shrinking fund to cover tag renewal costs, money to cover gas and groceries, a special dinner date (payday salmon), a beautiful walk through downtown with my boyfriend,
- Nostalgia Therapy: This playlist I made that is filled with Millennial Bops
In embracing both the good and the frustrating, I remain committed to my journey of personal growth and mindfulness. Life isn’t perfect, and my #HealingEra isn’t about ignoring the bad—it’s about facing it head-on and finding joy wherever I can. Here’s to more ups than downs as we keep it real together.
