Dear Reader, Sometimes you just need to get away.

Dear Reader,

Sometimes you just need to get away.

That’s what I did this weekend.

I did not have a Spring Break this week. So, after (another) long work week – with the promise of another one coming up, I opted to take this Saturday to get away.

Friday was my dad’s 65th birthday, so I took him to visit his brother in Chicago.

After a long, busy work week followed by a big, filled day, I don’t have pictures to share, or the capacity to recount all the wisdom and stories shared.

So, I will just leave you with a few takeaways from my week and my mini getaway.

  • Be present. While I don’t have pictures to share, I don’t need any because I spent the day being present with my family. Hopefully facilitating memories that will last.
  • Life can be long, but the years go quickly. Both my dad and my uncle discussed how it felt like not that long ago that they were helping to plan and facilitate my grandmother’s 65th birthday- Now it is their turn, and their children are facilitating
  • Finally, when you are a “grown-up” and are the driver of the trip you don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn and hop in the car. You can keep your slow morning and go with the flow if that is more your vibe. However, you then have to actually be the one who is driving– which is not always very fun in Chicago. And, you should check your headlights before going… Oops.

Much more was learned and discussed in this trip and over this past week. But I am all done and am onto my day of rest and relaxation before I get back on the treadmill tomorrow.

As always, thank you for having coffee with me.

Until next week, take care and be well,

Everett
