Weekly Spending Tracking

spentmillennial Avatar

Hi all, I am on a budget. And in the spirit of transparency, accountability and community, each week I share my spending tracking.

Here it is for this past week:

  • 🧀 Groceries: $154
  • ⛽ Gas: $28
  • 📓 Work: $93
  • 🍫 Treats: $69

💰 Total Spending: $344

One thing we do that helps us stick to our grocery budget is front load our grocery spending at the beginning of the month. So, this week we had a large grocery haul where we got a bunch of cabinet and freezer staples for the month along with some fridge and fresh ingredients.

We find this strategy helps us to feel prepared as we (almost) always have something we can pull together for a quick, easy, affordable (if not super healthy or fancy) dinner. This comes in very handy after long days- especially in the winter months when nobody wants to make an extra stop after work.

With our base built for the month, we are still able to use the rest of our grocery budget throughout the month to pick up items like fresh fruits and veggies, milk or special ingredients for recipes.

We really enjoy this strategy and recommend giving it a try if it fits into your life and budget.

Note: We DO have the privilege of having a car to transport the groceries. I know a large haul can be a lot more challenging if you are using public transit or walking.

If you are interested in trying spending tracking as we enter a new month, feel free to give my tracking spreadsheet a try. You can find it here.

Happy February and Happy #LoudBudgeting!
